We have been building this forum forWe have been building this forum for already 14 years, inspired by the oldest Summer Music Academy in Europe – “Mozarteum” in Salzburg. What differs the realization of both structures is that our International Summer Academy includes other arts.
The Academy has been intended to provide master classes at exceptionally high academic level, in various kinds of art, where talented persons to be trained, who have taken the road of the profession Art – music, theater, etc. Following this line, the initiative has no analogue in our country.
It is pleasure for us to share that one of the world’s most famous clarinetist – Paul Mayer will be part of our Master Class.
For the first time we will have an Art Journalism class and PR practices. Dr. Rayna Damyani – a Journalist having more than 27 years of experience, an Artist, Curator, Art Expert and a highly valued PR Specialist, will be the Mentor in these disciplines.
Debut will also have an Art Photography Class. Margarita Ruseva – a prominent visual artist having international practice, will be the Lecturer. Under her leadership we will also organize a national photo competition, the winners will present joint exhibition in a prestigious exposition area in the ancient town of Sozopol.
The program of the Academy for 2019 includes a total number of 10 master classes and 5 accompanying events: Cello Master Class where Prof. Anatoli Krastev, Ass.Prof. Dr. Atanas Krastev and Kalina Krasteva will be the Lecturers; Flute with Lecturer Prof. Georgi Spasov; Contrabass with Margarita Kalcheva; Creative Writing with Vanya Nikolova – a format to which there is a great interest. Furthermore, we will turn into reality another our dream – despite his busy international schedule, Ass.proff. Dimo Kolibarov – one of the most respected, sought-after and talented names in contemporary graphics, will lead a Pictorial Art Class in the Academy.

Cultural forums are an opportunity for different type of communication. They are celebrations that every city deserves. Exactly that kind of celebration the Summer Academy of Arts presents to the guests and residents of the city of Burgas and Sozopol, with the kind cooperation of the Burgas Municipality, District Administration of Burgas and Sozopol municipality.
The main program of the 2018 International Summer Academy of Arts included 7 /seven/ Master Classes in three genres with world class lecturers both as creators and as lecturers.
The accompanying program of the International Summer Academy of Arts was a synthesis of arts with the special participation of famous Bulgarian and foreign artists who conquered not only the European but the world scenes.
The most awaited event of the accompanying program was the concert in memory of Prof. P. Radev, when on one stage appeared Prof. Andrew Mariner – Solo Clarinetist of the London Symphony Orchestra, Prof. Peter Schmidt – Solo Clarinetist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Prof. Georgi Spasov – Solo Flutist of the Sofia Philharmonic, and the Prof. Petko Radev’s students:
Denitsa Lafchieva – Clarinet Teacher at Richard Wagner Conservatory, Vienna and Mariyan Bozhidarov – student at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama – London and participant in the Clarinet Class of the International Summer Academy of Arts for seven years. The concert took place on 03rd September 2019 at 07:00 pm in the Hall of the District Administration of Burgas and became an unforgettable event.
The literary reading of the newly published works of Anna Buxton – author of documentary-historical books based on the Bulgarian Middle Ages, was a very interesting event to the residents and guests of Sozopol, 24 July 2018, at 07:00 pm.

Summer Academy of Arts has olready taken its place in the cultural life of the town ot Sozopol, Bulgaria. It si not only an uniting forum for art and culture for people from different countries, but also an affirmative and evolving factor in the formation and the developement of Bulgariand trace and the Bulgarian arts school!
In 2017 from 1 (first) of July till 8. (eight) of August the number of masterclasses that will take place in this year’s programme will be 10. This year we have a new masterclass – creative writing. The tutor’s name is Vyara Nikolova – an amasing young woman who created A creative writing and thinking school as a project for outclass activity for students from 2nd to 7th grade. Each class in this School has its own major theme that is connected to the relations between people, global human values (suck as friendships, love, faith, hope, dreams, perseverance, ingenuity, wisdom, sense of life, charity) We affirm Burgas as a city, that will host two of the masterclasses – violin and creative writing masterclasses. The surprise is the piano masterclass of Maria Printz that will be held from 17th till 23rd of August, in Vienna, Austria.
The theme of the creative writing masterclass this year is “Psycho-physical training on the drama of Harold Pinter” and the theme of the masterclass of painting is “Traditions in the Future”
We have prepared a rich accompanying program of three classical concerts, a photo exhibition – competition and presentation of two premieres of books, a total of 6 /six/ events. For all these events, please stay tuned on our Facebook page.
Welcome to Sozopol and Burgas.

In 2016 we started with a promise to you – our participants – a promise for friendship, for trust, a promise for love and a promise for a high quality of education. We had 9 masterclasses in three genres – music, theatre and fine arts. We invited three new tutors and teachers – prof. Kevork Mardirosyan – violin, acting – Kasiel Noah Asher and painting – Yulian Messa. The number of participants was 93 people from 9 countries – Germany, Brazil, The USA, Spain, Poland, Macedonia, Turkey and Bulgaria.
The theme of the masterclass in acting was Bermuda playing triangle – Euripides, Shakespeare and Tenessy Whilliams.
With the closing presentation of the masterclass in acting we took participation in the celebration 400 years since the death of Willim Shakespeare – the colossus in the world’s literature. A masterclass of the programme of The Summer Academy of Arts took place in the city of Burgas for the fisrt time. The closing events were visited from a great number of visitors and spectatours. As an accompanying programme the team of the Academy organized two other evets – Clavier concer of Antonina Boneva and Radka Chomakova and an Jubilee exhibition “Brushesh on sand” of Yulian Messa, Stoyan Filipov and Rayna Yotova.
We are looking forward to organizing the 12th edition of The Summer Academy of Arts in 2017. We hope we see eachother again in Sozopol, and Burgas.

17741262_808508179301455_885418562_nIn the period 13.07. – 31.07. 2015 took place the jubilee /10th/17690289_808507772634829_1070688632_n edition of the Summer Academy of Arts in Sozopol. The educational forum gathered participants from 12 countries – South Korea, Panama, Brazil, Japany, Italy, Germany, Mexiko, Austria, Serbia, Macedonia, Turkey and Bulgaria. There were fourteen /14/ masterclases in four /4/ branches of art – music, painting, theatre and magic art with a total of 132 active participants. In 2015 we organized a masterclass in a new genre – Magic art with the tutor and teacher Astor, and a new masterclass in doublebass with the tutor and teacher Margarita Kalcheva. But the new things were more and more.
For the fisrt time in Bulgaria was put on stage the academic opera “The Swallow” by Puccini that was performed by the participants in the Darina Takova’s masterclasses in opera singing and the participants in the Chavdar Gyuzelev’s masterclass in composition of visual arts. Director of the play was Yavor Gardev, visual effects were made by Vladislav Iliev, and the sound was made by Kalin Nikolov, and the costumes were made by Maria Diomova.
For the project “The Swallow” by Puccini The Summer Academy of Arts was nominee for The Bulgarian National Radio’s prizes in the category “Music Project of the Year”.

The official programme of the Academy also included a jubileen chamber symphonic concert, which was financially suported by the cultural projects of Burgas Municipality. The chamber symphonic concert had the moto “Together after 10 years” and in it took part also Zenska Orkiestra Salonowa KHW from Katovice city in Poland with a conductor – Gjegoj Miyejvinski. In the concert along with the orcestra presented  took part 7 from the most talented participants in the Summer Academy of Arts in the years – musicians and singers from Sofia, Varna, Russe, Plovdiv and also 3 young misicians from The National School for Music and Art “Pancho Vladigerov” – Burgas and First chamber Festival “Friends of Summer Academy of Arts” with 4 concerts, that were financially supported by the Ministry of Culture.

The Ninth edition of The Summer Academy of Arts took place in the period 13.07 – 03.08.2014. Again we trusted our style and presented to aour participants new things – two new masterclasses. The Folklore singing masterclass was led by the solist of the choir “The mistery of Bulgarian Voices” – Binka Dobreva. The other new masterclass was in chamber music and was led by prof. Angel Stankov. In our masterclass wook part a foreign participants and tutors such as the Austrian actor and director Steffan Fleming, who led a workshop in acting.
This edition of the Summer Academy of Arts is already in the history but all of us are looking forward to meeting each other in the jubileen 10th edition of The Summer Academy ot Arts in 2015 in Sozopol.

In 2012 The Summer Academy of Arts will again take place in town of Sozopol. The Academy gives the opportunity for young people to master their education, their performance skills and to have contact to the big stage. This year in the Academy will be included master classes in singing with the famous Stefka Evstatieva, and a brand new class in painting with the tutor prof. Svetozar Benchev. Between 16 and 21.07.2009 master classes were renewed and there were three of them. The first master class was clarinet class whose teacher was the unique artist of many generations of musicians Petko Radev-teacher in the National Music Academy “P. Vladigerov”-Sofia and in the Music and Dance Art Academy –Plovdiv; the traditional flute class with teacher Prof. Georgi Spassov-one of the most famous modern Bulgarian instrumentalists and pedagogues, teacher in the National Music Academy in Sofia; and the next master class was the piano class with its teacher Maria Prinz, daughter of the famous Bulgarian composer and director Konstantin Iliev, who teaches in the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. This time the number of the participants was forty.In the final concert included those who played their instruments in a brilliant way and were continuously applauded by the audience.

2007
After the success of the three editions of the Academy in 2007 master flute class took place again with Prof. Georgi Spassov. The flute players who are the core of the Art Academy were here in Sozopol for the forth time. The number of the students was seventeen.

Prof. Spassov took a great care for his students, he won the students with his professional abilities, making them feel comfortable and making them love the art of flute.

In the next 2005 year in the period 12-16.07. Art Academy took place with Prof. Georgi Spassov for the second time. The master class was successfully completed with even more paricipants-17, the hall was full of people and promises of future meetings with the young people.


The season 17-22.07.2006 was very important to the Academy. During this season the number of master classes increased, as well as the number ot the participants. Except for the traditional flute class, this 2006 season there was two new master classes-piano class with assistant professor Rostislav Yovchev who teaches in the National Music Academy “P.Vladigerov”- Sofia and in the “Kliment Ohridski” University in Sofia (Music Pedagogy ) and with Prof. Helene Luyten from Belgium – pianist in the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. The number of the participants was twenty five. The Art Academy turned into a valuable cultural event for both participants and the citizens of summer Sozopol.

At the final concert not only the auompozerdience, but also the critics were impressed by the talent of the young generation.

The beginning of the Art Academy was in 16-21.07. 2004 with the master class of prof. Georgi Spassov, National Music Academy “P. Vladigerov”-Sofia and the Music School in Sofia with 12 participants from all over the country and a participant from France.

The final concert and the diploma giving of those who completed their education successfully took place in Town art gallery hall in Sozopol where all master classes come to an end.
